London Irish land an Osprey

London Irish have secured a two-year deal for versatile loose forward Tom Smith from the Ospreys.

The 26-year-old, who has captained Wales at U21 level and the Welsh region, has made 60 appearances for Ospreys, scoring two tries.

He has also featured 21 times in the RaboDirect Pro 12 and Heineken Cup this season.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Ospreys, but it is time to move on and I am keen to do this at London Irish,” said Smith, who will link up with Exiles for pre-season training in June.

“There are a few Welsh players in the current London Irish squad who have gone on to be successes in recent reasons and I hope to slot straight in when I join this summer.”
