Rhinos chief up for Manly clash

2012-02-17 09:38:03

Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott insists no-one is “quaking in their boots” about facing Manly in the World Club Challenge.

The Super League Grand Final winners are preparing to face the winners of Australia’s NRL at Headingley on Friday night.
The last time the two sides met in 2009 it proved to be a bad tempered affair, with several altercations throughout a physical game that Manly eventually won 28-20 at Elland Road.
No Super League side has won the challenge match since the Rhinos in 2008 but McDermott is not fearful of their Aussie opponents.
“When it comes to Manly this Friday we know they hold some threat and are a very good team,” he told reporters.
“But we’ve just got to make sure we do what Leeds do really well. I’m sure if we do that, we’ll be more than a match for them and there’s no one quaking in their boots about facing Manly.”
