Henderson gets it right with Riverside Theatre return

The eight-year-old won the prestigious race 12 months ago but has not been seen since and connections chose this weekend’s fixture for a return to top-class action.
And it proved to be the correct decision as he pulled off a three-length victory to land the spoils, with Medermit, whose rider Robert Thornton almost came a cropper eight fences from home, trailing in second.
Riverside Theatre, who is part-owned by actor Jimmy Nesbitt, travelled well throughout the contest and a superb leap five from home ensured that the 13/8 favourite would not be caught.
Geraghty felt that Henderson got his preparation spot on and is already looking ahead to another outing on the star performer.
“It was a top-class training performance by Nicky to bring him back after being off for 12 months,” he said. “He did it the hard way. We were in front with five to jump and I thought he might struggle but away he went.
“He sadly missed the Ryanair last year, so let’s hope we can get there this year.”
