Tevez: A lot to make up for

Manchester City captain Yaya Toure has welcomed the return of Carlos Tevez, describing the Argentina striker as “amazing”.
The Tevez-City saga has raged on furiously since the very public fall out with manager Robert Mancini following the former Manchester United forward’s refusal to take to the field during the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich last September.
The Italian tactician recently claimed Tevez would be welcomed back to the first-team if the player could muster an apology for his behaviour, although many believe the striker’s return to the fray could upset the balance in the dressing room.
However, Toure, who made his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in City’s 2-1 defeat of Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, feels Tevez can once more prove a big hit as the club look to secure a maiden Premier League title.
“Carlos is a fantastic player and I hope he will continue with us, because we need him,” the Ivory Coast playmaker told Sky Sports.
“He is an amazing player.”
However, Toure also believes it will be necessary for Tevez to apologise to both the manager and the players if the team are to move past the incident as a whole.
“He knows what he has to say to the boss and to the rest of the players,” he added.
“I think all the players will be happy if Carlos comes back.”
City will have a full week to prepare for their next encounter as the Manchester outfit will not play any part in this weekend’s round of FA Cup fixtures having been dumped out by rivals United in the third round.
