West Brom v Norwich

2012-01-27 04:05:33

Recent form will make Norwich firm favourites when they travel to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom in an FA Cup fourth-round tie on Saturday afternoon.

The Canaries go into the clash having held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw in the league, their first clean sheet of the season.

Currently in ninth spot in the Premier League standings, the last time Paul Lambert’s side lost a match was on December 27, a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham.

Just two weeks ago they recorded a 2-1 win over Albion in a league fixture at Carrow Road.

The Baggies beat Stoke 2-1 in their most recent encounter, but for the most part have struggled this season.

With Roy Hodgson’s charges struggling down in 15th spot and an away trip to Fulham scheduled for Wednesday, the manager has hinted he will not play his full strength team for this FA Cup game, and may leave out leading striker Shane Long, struggling with a back complaint.

Marc-Antoine Fortune is expected to occupy the lone striker role with Simon Cox deployed out wide.

Other team news for the hosts is that midfielder Paul Scharner is again battling to recover from an Achilles problem, while captain Chris Brunt (fractured ankle), midfielder Zoltan Gera (knee) and defenders Steven Reid (ankle and knee) and Billy Jones (hamstring) are still sidelined.

Norwich duo Elliot Ward and James Vaughn will be available for selection after returning from knee injuries.

Corey Smith has been loaned out to Barnsley, while goalkeeper Declan Rudd is injured.
