Villans fail in Keane bid

Aston Villa have been unsuccessful in their attempt to extend striker Robbie Keane’s loan spell from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Irishman has been a hit at Villa Park since his arrival in the January transfer window, scoring three goals in four games.

Not surprisingly, manager Alex McLeish wanted to keep Keane beyond the Villans’ fixture with Wigan on February 25 which was to be his final game.

However, according to Press Association Sport, Villa’s request to extend the loan has been denied, with Galaxy eager to have Keane back in training well before the MLS season starts on March 10.
