Queens Park Rangers attacking midfielder Adel Taarabt says he would like to stay with the London club following the recent appointment of manager Mark Hughes.
The 22-year-old Moroccan played an integral part in QPR’s promotion winning campaign in the Championship last season, but found first-team opportunities hard to come by under ex-boss Neil Warnock this term.
Taarabt is currently on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Morocco and has revealed he will hold discussions over his future with the Premier League club when he returns to London.
Commenting on the departure of Warnock and the subsequent appointment of Hughes, Taarabt told the BBC: “I think we needed that. I had good years with Neil Warnock but we were in a bad position.
“I think if Mark Hughes was not coming in maybe I was leaving in January. I spoke with the chairman and the situation now has changed. They want to keep me and we’re going to have a discussion when we come back.
“Mark Hughes is a great manager and I think the chairman is giving him money, so he’s buying players. I’m going to meet him and see what’s going to happen.”
