Scott Sinclair’s late strike ensured Swansea took a deserved point after Rafael van der Vaart had opened the scoring for Spurs.
Swansea dominated possession early in the first half but weren’t really able to carve out many clear-cut chances.
Nathan Dyer forced a good save from Brad Friedel in the fifth minute and Sinclair had a half-chance a few minutes later from 12 yards out but couldn’t find the target.
Luka Modric had Spurs’ first chance of the game in the 13th minute, turning and firing at goal from 20 yards out, but his effort went wide.
Sinclair curled an effort just wide with Friedel beaten but the home side weren’t able to put together many more meaningful attacks despite seeing a lot of the ball.
Spurs were strangely subdued but took the lead just before the break. Benoit Assou-Ekotto ran at the Swansea defence and pulled the ball back into the six-yard box where Van der Vaart was waiting to volley the ball home, helped by a deflection off Ashley Williams.
Van der Vaart had a great chance to extend Spurs’ lead 10 minutes after the restart after being found by Emmanuel Adebayor but opted to take on the shot from 20 yards instead of taking the ball into the box.
Gareth Bale shot just wide but as the game entered the final 20 minutes Swansea grew in confidence and once again saw the lion’s share of the ball.
Rangel volleyed just wide and Sinclair had one effort headed over by team-mate Danny Graham and another strike cleared off the line by Modric.
Their pressure paid off in the 84th minute as they capitalised on defensive errors from Spurs. Friedel could only parry a deflected Angel Rangel cross and Sinclair tapped the ball in to ensure the points were shared.
