Spurs lining up Rodallega deal

2012-01-31 12:59:02

Tottenham could clinch the signature of Hugo Rodallega directly after the Wigan striker has faced them at White Hart Lane on Tuesday night.

The Colombia international is out of contract with the Latics at the end of the season and has spurned all advances to sign an extension at the DW Stadium.

The Daily Mirror reports that Spurs are lining up a late swoop for Rodallega after Queens Park Rangers failed with a £4million bid for the 26-year-old.

The north Londoners, who have a penchant for doing last-minute transfers, would have just 90 minutes to push through a deal after their clash with Roberto Martinez’s side before the transfer window shuts.

Spurs assistant coach Joe Jordan has not ruled out a switch at the 11th hour despite Harry Redknapp’s target having just played against them.

“I don’t think the game will affect things, really,” he said. “There are people within the club that know what the thoughts of the manager are and they get on and do it.

“You concentrate on what job you are supposed to do so that’s got nothing to do with it.

“Nothing is imminent as far as I am aware, but in the past Tottenham have come in with a late purchase and there’s always a possibility in football.”

Rodallega joined the Lancashire club for £4.5m from Mexican outfit Necaxa in January 2009 and has gone on to score 24 goals in 96 Premier League appearances.
