Pompey young gun Anfield bound

Portsmouth’s 17-year-old defender Sam Magri will spend the next week training at Liverpool as the Reds suss out the youngster.

The England youth international, who represented his country at last year’s U17 World Cup in Mexico, has yet to break into the Portsmouth first team but may find himself signing for a Premier League giant despite this.

It is believed that Magri will train at Melwood this week and then take part in a reserve team fixture against Everton next Friday.

Magri took to Twitter to confirm the news, saying: “Just to put everything to bed - it’s true in what everyone is saying involving me.”
