Kean: Against the wall

Blackburn manager Steve Kean was left thoroughly unimpressed by his side’s “disappointing” 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Wednesday evening.
Rovers have looked serious relegation candidates for the majority of the season, although they dominated for long periods of the Ewood Park encounter, only for their finishing to let them down.
The Lancashire outfit were soon made to pay dearly for their inability to find the back of the net as Ryan Taylor’s wayward shot took a wicked deflection off Scott Dann to hand the Toon Army the lead.
David Dunn then went on to miss a first-half penalty, and Gabriel Obertan sealed the points with an injury-time goal against the run of play.
A dejected Kean said: “It’s one of those evenings where you look back at the chances, and the goal that Newcastle got, and it’s disappointing.
“But I felt that the last 30 minutes of the first half we controlled the game and then for most of the second half.
“So if you go on chances, possession and the stats which normally equal goals it was a very frustrating night.
“We’ve done enough tonight to get something from the game.”
