Hoffenheim have signed defender Stefan Thesker, but have made room at the club by sending midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson out on loan to Swansea.
The ninth-placed Bundesliga outfit have already signed 18-year-old Liechtenstein midfielder Sandro Wieser from FC Basel.
Coach Holger Stanislawski told his club’s website that the 20-year-old Thesker, who arrives via FC Twente, is “another talented player with a lot of potential”.
Meanwhile, general manager Ernst Tanner confirmed that Sigurdsson, 22, will finish the season with the Swans in the Premier League.
Tanner added: “He missed most of the preseason through injury and did not really get into form after that. We hope ... he gets his old strengths back.”
