Fresh recruit Tim Ream could make his Bolton debut in Saturday’s Premier League tie with Wigan at the Reebok Stadium.
The USA centre-back has been included in the match-day squad for the first time following his switch from New York Red Bulls a fortnight ago.
On-loan winger Ryo Miyaichi could also feature after signing from Arsenal last month.
Injured defender Marcos Alonso (foot) has been ruled out of the contest, while Gretar Steinsson (hamstring) and Joe Riley (groin) may return after missing last weekend’s 2-0 loss at Norwich.
Midfielders Lee Chung-Yong (broken leg) Stuart Holden and Ricardo Gardner (both knee) remain on the sidelines with their long-term knocks.
The Trotters are four points ahead of the Latics, who prop up the standings with 16 points.
Visiting boss Roberto Martinez has no new concerns, with Antolin Alcaraz back in contention after a groin injury kept him out of a 1-1 stalemate with Everton.
Midfielder Mohamed Diame could make his first appearance since returning form Senegal’s first-round exit at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
