Ba: What went wrong?

Senegal striker Demba Ba is trying to forget about his country’s dismal showing at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Teranga Lions, billed as pre-tournament contenders, crashed out in the first round without a point, going down to Equatorial Guinea, Zambia and Libya - much to Ba’s obvious dismay.
“We have to forget what has happened here,” said the Newcastle United hitman, who has netted 15 goals in the Premier League this season.
“We were looking like a big side (in the qualifiers) but unfortunately the competition has shown the reality of African football.”
Senegal were unbeaten in their qualification campaign and recorded some impressive victories in the process, including a 7-0 thrashing of Mauritius and a 4-2 win in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
