Ade on track for London derby

2012-02-22 08:34:42

Tottenham’s on-loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor expects to shake off an injury in time for Sunday’s north London derby with former club Arsenal.

The Togo international twisted his knee last week, placing doubt on his availability at the weekend.

However, his rehabilitation is seemingly going well.

The 27-year-old wrote on Twitter: “Just finished training, really happy with the progress, knee is looking much better. Working on my fitness for Sunday.”

Adebayor has endured a poor relationship with the Gunners since his acrimonious departure for parent club Manchester City in 2009.

In his first game against Arsenal after joining the Citizens, Adebayor ran the full length of the pitch at Eastlands to celebrate a goal in front of the visiting fans after being verbally abused throughout the tie.

In the same match his studs caught current Gunners captain Robin van Persie in the face providing further fuel for some of his harshest critics.
