Robinho netted a brace as AC Milan thrashed Arsenal 4-0 at the San Siro to kick-start their Champions League last 16 campaign.
The Rossoneri were on song from the start of the game and dominated proceedings throughout.
It took the Serie A giants only 15 minutes to crack open the Gunners’ defence as a superb volley from former Tottenham man Kevin Prince-Boateng found the back of Wojciech Szczesny’s goal.
Brazil international Robinho then doubled the lead shortly before the break as he headed home from close range.
The former Manchester City record signing wasn’t done yet. After the interval, he drilled a right-footed drive past the Arsenal gloveman to make it 3-0.
In the 79th minute the north London outfit’s woes continued as Zlatan Ibrahimovic slotted a penalty after he was fouled in the area by Johan Djourou.
The crushing victory leaves Arsenal on the cusp of Champions League elimination as they now have to make up a four-goal deficit in the return leg at the Emirates Stadium.
